Das Knut Hagedorn Quartett wurde 2011 in Münster gegründet und überzeugt seitdem mit seinem genreübergreifenden Eklektik- Sound sowohl live als auch auf zahlreichen Aufnahmen. Mittlerweile leben die Musiker in Münster, Köln und Berlin, was sie nicht davon abhält ihre Arbeit fortzusetzen. So nahm die Band Ende 2016 ihre dritte EP „Demolition“ auf, das bisher kraftvollste Statement der Band. War sonst das Markenzeichen des Quartetts eher eingängige Melodien mit groovigen Oddmeter- Basslines zu verbinden und damit für beinahe poppige Ohrwürmern zu sorgen, mäandern die neuen Kompositionen von Bandleader Knut Hagedorn als expressiver Fluss durch eine Landschaft geprägt von neuen Quellen wie Neue Musik oder Crossover. Der Jazz-Spirit ist dabei stets präsent, vor allem angesichts der vielen freien Soli, die zum Teil komplett als Kollektivimprovisation angelegt sind. Freiheit in Grenzen par excellence.

2018 begibt sich die Band erneut auf neues Terrain indem Songwriter Knut Hagedorn Elemente aus Hardcore und Progressive Rock in einen Jazzmantel hüllt und in das aktuelle Liveset einbezieht. Die Spannung steigt!

The Knut Hagedorn Quartett was founded in Münster, Germany, in 2011 because of the need for a vehicle for important musical messages that ought to be heard. At first it made an impact on the local scene, now its ambitions have broadened as some of the four musicians have moved to cities like Cologne and Berlin. Despite this spatial extension they gathered in the beautiful Fattoria Musica – studios in order to record the new EP „Demolition“. It's done with so much love and balls, one can easily claim that this is the strongest statement of the band. On earlier recordings the trademark sound was defined by catchy melodies combinded with a foundation of funky oddmeter basslines. The new compositions by bandleader Knut Hagedorn meander through a landscape influenced by new sources as Neue Musik or Crossover. The jazz-spirit is always present as we find many free solos, sometimes even collective improvisation. Freedom in borders par excellence.
